D.K.’s Learning Centre
is a unit of Venkat Narayan Educational and Charitable trust, a non-profitable
trust, catering to the needs of children with Learning Difficulties, Speech
Problems, Behavioral Issues and Constant Failures in Academics. D.K.’s was started in the year 2009. It initially was
started with just 5 children and now has 40 children in full time programme and
20 on a remedial basis.
The student teacher
ratio is 4:1.
Mission and Vision
Our mission is to cater to children with special needs, make
them inclusive in the society, be independent and stand on their own legs, thus
building their self confidence.
Our vision is:
· To ensure
holistic development of each child, physical, intellectual, emotional, moral
and social.
· To nurture
children by providing a caring and a holistic environment.
· To facilitate
children to come into confident possession of their innate
talents.
· To involve
parents in their child’s development process.
The school has professional guidance in all means:
· The centre takes
guidance from the Kanchi kamakoti child trust hospital regarding children’s
problems like epilepsy.
· The centre is
being guided by eminent doctors like Dr. Ravi Kumar, Dr. Andal, Dr. Virudhagirinathan and Dr. Karunanidhi (H.O.D , psychology department , university of Madras).
· The centre is
well supported by the Madras Dyslexia Association.
· The centre is a
part of child and teen care clinic headed by DR BV Balachandar (consultant pediatrician and developmental neurologist).
