REUSE & RECYCLE
Resources are limited and teaching children to use them judicially is very important. In order to make them understand this concept, D.K.'s has made its children to recycle old newspapers and magazines. Children, as
part of their vocational training, are made to convert these old articles into newspaper bags and covers. The covers made are taken up by pharmacies and shops. In a single day children make 100 such covers (less than one hour). Money generated through these activities are used in supporting children of D.K.'s from financially weaker background. Seen in picture are paper covers made by our children.

PREPARATION FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY
Seen in picture are Students of D.K.'s happily involving themselves in creative art preparing for Independence day celebrations.
Art therapy uses the processes of drawing, painting, and sculpting to improve well-being and confidence in kids. It is based on the premise that self-expression can be used to address emotional problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, and increase self-awareness.
It is necessary that art therapists or teachers work with students in mainstream and special education classes. An art therapist encourages art-making to reduce problems related to learning and emotional adjustment. Art therapy enables a child to explore personal problems through physical activity and sensory integration.
Different parts of the brain are engaged during creative expression. Sweeping a brush across a canvas requires motor skills. Drawing a picture of a memory requires analytic and sequential operations, logic, and abstraction. Working through the sequence of steps needed to complete an art task requires attention skills and working memory. Making art generates a relaxation response and improves a child's mood. Creative activity increases brain levels of serotonin, the lack of which can lead to depression. Manipulating clay for five minutes can reduce stress hormones more than squeezing a stress ball.
HEALTH MIX
In an initiative to help children who skip their meals due to financial constraints, D.K.'s has come with another project: THE HEALTH MIX. With proper scrutiny, the students themselves are involved in the preparation of this health mix and are fed one cup everyday. Ingredients of the health mix include: Ragi, Wheat, Maize, Kambu, Corn, Cashew, Almond, Elaichi, Kollu, Groundnut, Roasted gram and so on. The product is also open for sale costing Rs. 150 for a net weight of 1/2 kg.
OUTSOURCING OF DATA ENTRY PROJECTS
With an aim to train children on computer and its usage, D.K.'s outsources projects from various institutions and give students hands-on-experience on computers. Right from a child of 4th standard level to a student belonging to 12th standard are involved despite the child's special needs marking inclusion of children. As on 25.07.2014 students have successfully completed 2 projects.
STRESS BUSTERS
It is natural for anyone to get stressed in this monotonous world. Teaching professionals are no exception. With the work load and peer pressure to be in par with the growing trends in teaching, teachers undergo a lot of stress. D.K.'s conducts tours and art sessions for teachers to bust their stress.
